Eliza is a Vancouver-based Writer + Director.  

Eliza Brownlie is a writer-director whose work blends elevated, dreamy visuals with emotionally resonant and nuanced storytelling, crafting films that are both visually striking and deeply felt.

 

Across commercials, music videos, and narrative film, Eliza brings sensitivity and a refined cinematic style, infusing beauty, creativity, and intention into every project. She is drawn to stories that deepen empathy and broaden perspectives, often exploring culture, social issues, and the female experience in ways that invite reflection and spark meaningful conversation.

 

She studied Communications and Media at SFU and Directing at UCLA, and honed her craft in the advertising industry, designing treatments for some of the world’s most iconic brands and top-tier directors.

Eliza is a Shiny Awards Finalist, recognized by a global jury spotlighting the next generation of commercial directors. Her work has screened internationally at festivals including LA Shorts International Film Festival, Venice Shorts, Williamsburg Independent Film Festival, and Female Voices Film Festival NYC, and has been featured by platforms such as LBBonline, Kodak, Nylon, VICE, and Refinery29.

 

Alongside her creative work, Eliza is committed to advancing gender equity in film and supporting underrepresented creators. She is passionate about fostering more inclusive, mindful production processes, and strengthening representation both on screen and behind the camera.
